Road blockade held protesting the death of a DUET teacher
Students blocked the road to protest the death of two people, including Ramakrishna Saha, a teacher of Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology-DUET, who was hit by a bus in Tongi, Gazipur.
The Road Blockade was organized on Dhaka-Shimultali road in front of the university on Thursday (February 22) in the morning. Due to the road blockade, the traffic on that road was stopped for about an hour. Hundreds of passengers suffered for that.
During the program, the University Registrar Himangsu Bhowmik, Student Welfare Director Prof. Nazrul Islam, Teachers’ Association President Prof. Md. Mostafizur Rahman spoke. The General Secretary of the DUET teachers' association Md. Majharul Islam moderated the program.

DUET Student Welfare Director Professor Nazrul Islam said, "The untimely death of a talented teacher like Ramakrishna Saha is an irreparable loss for the university as well as the country. It is never possible to make up for this loss, but we want exemplary punishment of those involved subject to a fair investigation so that such loss does not recur in the future."
At the end of the program, the wife of the deceased Ramakrishna Saha, Brishti, requested everyone's cooperation to help her only child and family.
Earlier on Tuesday around 11 am, the accident occurred when a motorcycle collided with a passenger bus of Prabhati Banashri Paribahan on the Cheragh Ali BRT project flyover on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway. The deceased in this incident are 32-year-old Ramkrishna Saha, son of Rabindranath Saha of Swapna Koti of Mohammadpur Chand Housing Society in the capital and 42-year-old son of deceased Abdul Baten of Char village of Bara Binay of Narayanganj.
Didar used to drive motorcycles on rent through a ride-sharing service Pathao. The bus has been impounded in this incident but the driver is absconding.
